For a stunning show of wildlife, be sure to watch this winter.
During the winter season, sandhill cranes flock to Arizona. One of the prime destinations for sandhill cranes is the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area in the southern part of the state. In the earlier half of the winter season, more than 20,000 sandhill cranes can be seen hanging out around the Whitewater Draw and it is truly a sight to behold.
Arizona Game & Fish has set up a sandhill crane live camera so that you can view their activity during the winter. Check into the website periodically throughout the day and follow Arizona Game & Fish's guidance for best viewing times. Be sure to check in before February as that's when the crane populations begin to dwindle.
Additionally, check out the department's other wildlife cameras which include bald eagles, desert pupfish, and bats.
