Alaska hunters who are 16 years or older, were born after Jan. 1, 1986, and who plan to hunt in Units 7, 13, 14, 15, or 20 must have completed a certified hunter education course. Those under 16 years-old may hunt under the direct supervision of a licensed hunter who is 16 or older who has completed the hunter education course. Alaska residents can choose from an instructor-led course or an online course. Both courses require a field day to pass. You can locate and register for a hunter education course on Department of Fish and Game website.
