Hunting seasons depend on the type of animal you intend to hunt and the weapon you intend to use. Since there are so many different animal species hunted in New Mexico, from big game to small game, please read up on the proper materials to ensure you are hunting during the right time. For example, deer and elk the season is from Sept. 1 to Jan. 31. For ibex and oryx, the season is all year. Yet pronghorn antelope season is only from August 1 to Nov. 1.
