Anyone hunting in Iowa must have a valid Iowa hunting license. You can only hunt on designated public lands or on private lands with the owner's permission. You must comply with all seasons specific to game species and the types of arms you can use, as well as regulations regarding the times of day when you can hunt. Certain species, like migratory game birds, deer, and turkey, require special endorsements (stamps) before you can hunt them. The complete set of up-to-date hunting regulations is available on the DNR's website or in print from most license vendors.
