Middlebury Festival On The Green
802-462-3555

46 years of free, family-friendly music in the heart of Vermont!!

We have a tent that seats over 200 and covers a large performance stage. The tent is surrounded by lawn with great sight lines and unlimited seating, perfect for family picnics and relaxed viewing. There's a state-of-the-art sound system bringing music to everyone inside the tent and throughout the village green.

The Festival is free to attend but, of course, there are significant expenses to produce the week long activities. So we "pass the hat" at each show and hope everyone attending will give whatever they can to help support the Festival.

Schedule of Events:

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Mathis, Gaëlle and Marc

Mathis Andersen along with musician-actress-theatre director Gaëlle Hispard and Canadian actor-singer-theatre director Marc Beaudin of the theater company Regarde il neige (Look, it's snowing) will make you clap, sing along, discover and practice words (and animal sounds) in French and German - always making sure you never get lost in between languages. Their set will include children's songs from France, Germany, Québec, some others in English you'll most certainly be familiar with.

7:00 pm - 8:15 pm: Caitlin Canty

Raised in small-town Vermont, the daughter of a school teacher and a house painter, Caitlin Canty graduated with a degree in biology and started a career as an Environmental Sustainability Consultant in New York City.  In the evenings she would play music at the Lower East Side music halls and bars.  In 2009, she left her day job to become a performer full time. Since then she has toured extensively in the US and Europe opening for Mary Chapin Carpenter, the Milk Carton Kids, Josh Ritter and many others.  In 2015, she packed up her 1939 Recording King guitar and moved to Nashville. She has now returned to her home state of Vermont with her husband and sons.

"The Vermont native with a casually devastating voice and unshakable poise is bound to be the next great Americana star... Canty is ready to be discovered." - SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

8:30 pm - 9:45 pm: Ray Vega's Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble

We are so glad to have Ray Vega return to our Festival stage. Ray has played in many renowned bands including those of Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, and Johnny Pacheco as well as his own renowned Latin Jazz Sextet. He has also recorded with Pancho Sanchez, Lionel Hampton, Paul Simon and Sheila E. among others. When Ray is not on the road performing, he serves as the host of Friday Night Jazz on Vermont Public and is a Music Department Faculty at the University of Vermont. His latest offering is the Ray Vega Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble, a Vermont based Salsa Band that focuses on Afro-Caribbean Dance Music.  Prepare for a night of dancing!
