The Art∙Struck Festival brings together artists and arts organizations to celebrate and support the arts community. This festival offers high quality artwork for sale to the public, arts demonstrations and activities for all ages.

Join us on April 26th, 2025 for this unique arts experience!

Visit a wide array of talented local artists at the festival’s art market. Bring the whole family and enjoy hands-on activities an live art demos. Enjoy some delicious food from the food trucks by the Founders Park amphitheater. Learn more about local arts programs and organizations, and above all, have some fun and help us celebrate the arts in Johnson City!

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Schedule:

11:00 AM and 3:00 PM: Performances - Cultural Movement Show

This diverse series of dance performances will feature Meraki Movement Studio’s adult dance troupes and solos including Bellydance, Jazz, and Hip Hop inspired collaborations, the talented Appalachian Irish Dancers displaying their Celtic influence in all their forms, and fusion performances to round out their cultural arts in movement showcase of talents.

12:00 PM and 1:15 PM: March Times - Giant Puppet March

The Cattywampus Puppet Council and the Knox Honkers & Bangers brass band will get things moving with two giant puppet marches and roving throughout the day. Grab a drum or a puppet and join in the fun!

12:00 - 5:00 PM: East Coast Giants Stiltwalker

You may feel a bit small when one of the East Coast Giants stiltwalkers passes by! He’ll be towering over the festival most of the day, so make sure you catch a glimpse of this larger than life performer.

1:00 - 3:00 PM: Performances - Twirling Twins

Remember to look up every now and then! Two talented aerial acrobats will dazzle the crowd with their mid-air performances.

11:00 AM - 3:00 PM: Road Roller Printmaking

Large-scale printmaking? Yes, please! A road roller will make oversized prints on paper and other items using an original design from a hand-carved block by artist Bird Honeycutt. Don’t forget to purchase your limited edition print!

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM: Chalk Art Competition

(Winners announced at 4:00 PM)
Artists will compete in a chalk art competition in 4′ x 4′ spaces during the festival. This year’s competition theme is “Pattern”. Stop by the Founders Park Amphitheater to see their beautiful creations come together on the sidewalk!

12:00 - 4:00 PM: Street Art Throwdown

Three local artists will create graffiti-style art on site during the festival. Their large-scale works will be temporarily displayed in downtown Johnson City after they are complete!

ALL DAY: Amazing Street Painting – 3D Illusion Chalk Art Installation

You won’t believe your eyes as this amazing chalk art creation materializes in the plaza of the Founders Park Amphitheater. Though it will be installed on a 2-dimensional surface, this artwork will jump off the ground with its skillfully rendered 3-dimensional qualities.

ALL DAY: Granite Goddess, Living Statue

She’s as still as a statue, but…wait for it…she springs to life! The Granite Goddess will bring an air of enchantment to the Pavilion at Founders Park.

ALL DAY: Kelsey Tiara Photo – Tintype Portraits

Don’t miss your chance to have your portrait made with this unique process! Tintype portraits are created using wet plate collodion photography, which was a primary documentation tool during the US Civil War before it became a celebrated trade by itinerant photographers through the early 1900s. It involves coating a metal or glass plate with light-sensitive chemistry to create an image. Tintype photos can last well over 100 years, making them a treasured heirloom that can stand the test of time.

ALL DAY: Mellow Tiger Signs & Design – Sign Painting Demos

Learn more about the art of sign painting while viewing live demos from a professional sign painter! This skillful approach to sign creation uses a variety of paints and brushes to generate original, hand-lettered advertisements and signs for identification.
