Theatre under the stars for the whole family

Celebrating the works of Shakespeare the festival consisted of two plays in repertory.  Every performance was preceded by “Green Shows” consisting of  local musicians, dancers, and even stage combat exhibitions.  Audience members are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy picnicking on the lovely grounds surrounding the Sontag Greek Theater at Pomona College, who co-produces the event.  After 10 years of the Bard, OJP decided to shakes things up this year with a production of the rock and roll musical We Will Rock You by Ben Elton and Queen. We Will Rock you takes place 300 years in the future where humans are banned from creating music.  In a standardized, commodified world where only AI generated music is allowed, a group of Bohemians seek to break the repressive rule of Killer Queen and learn to make music again.  We Will Rock You will run July 10-20 from Thursday through Sunday for two weeks.  The grounds will open at 6:30pm nightly for picnicking.  Green shows all start at 7pm.  No outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.  OJP will have beer and wine available for purchase at concessions along with candy and other snacks.
