Join us for Night 1 of the inaugural Modern Jazz and Soul Festival at Roots Music Project on April 11th, featuring an extraordinary lineup of accomplished artists pushing the boundaries of contemporary jazz and soul music.
Headlining the evening is two-time Grammy winner Derrick Hodge, one of today's most versatile and influential musicians, whose masterful bass work has shaped some of hip-hop's most iconic recordings. The night continues with the JJ Murphy Quintet, bringing their distinctive blend of folk, blues, rock, and jazz, shaped by Murphy's years as a Nashville session player.
The soulful Wellington Bullings will grace the stage with her rich, sultry vocals that seamlessly blend classic soul, R&B, and jazz. Native Launchpad Award recipient Chantil Dukart brings her dynamic compositional range spanning funk, folk, classical, and jazz, while the Danny Kaminski Quartet rounds out this exceptional evening of modern jazz and soul innovation.
