Performance:
7:30 pm - Opera Theatre of Connecticut Singing Kander and Ebb
Razzle dazzle us! For 40 years, composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb worked side by side to create a brand of Broadway musicals packed with beauty and biting commentary. Their show Chicago is one of the longest-running shows in theatre history. Their stage musicals include Cabaret and their movie scores include Martin Scorsese's New York, New York, which spawned a signature song for Frank Sinatra, and Barbara Streisand’s Funny Lady. The team also wrote prolifically for Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera. The duo is known for collaborations with various writers, directors, and actors, and their Broadway premieres continued even after Ebb’s death at age 76 in 2004.
