Nearly three weeks late delivering his latest play, Luke Diaz is suffering a terrible case of writer’s block and desperation is setting in. His ex-boyfriend, tech genius Porter Anad, unexpectedly comes to his rescue with the arrival of a mysterious crate. Porter informs Luke he is loaning him a beta test of “the most advanced self-learning Artificial Intelligence program ever created.” But since A.I. is a disembodied series of codes and algorhythms it is often seen as a threat. To alleviate this, Porter has housed this particular program in his latest hardware invention – Fully Animatronic Intimate Comapnions. Luke is uncertain about using the A.I. to help with his missed deadline (and he certainly isn’t going to use its “intimate” functions.) This leads to an intellectual battle-of-wills between the playwright and the robot that insists it is “just a tool” and challenges Luke’s assumptions about integrity, the nature of fiction, and even what it means to be a real person.
