The best (and only) science festival in Colorado is back again with 16 days of fun and engaging events designed to showcase STEAM where it's taking place in Colorado Springs and around the Pikes Peak Region.  There are events for all ages- adults, kids, teens and families - and most are absolutely free (some events may have a fee to help the hosts cover their costs). ​

We'll have dozens of exciting science magic shows, laboratory tours and demos, rockets, drone soccer, live animals robots, liquid nitrogen ice cream, Insectapalooza, and lots of other hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) activities and exhibits for kids (primarily K-8th grades).  It's all Free (even the parking) and fun for all ages!

Once Carnival Day is over, the festival events kick into high gear.  There will be events for all ages, pre-K to adults, and most are free.

11am - 12pm: Virtual Event - APPR Presents: Author Mary Roach - PPLD Virtual

A special event of the 2025 Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival

Virtual Event: Join Pikes Peak Library District as we welcome author Mary Roach to discuss her book Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law, a 2025 All Pikes Peak Reads selection.  Roach will do a short reading from Fuzz, followed by a discussion of the book and writing process.  Following the discussion, Roach will be available for audience Q&A. 

Mary Roach is the author of the New York Times bestsellers STIFF, SPOOK, BONK, GULP, GRUNT, FUZZ, and PACKING FOR MARS. Her new book, REPLACEABLE YOU: Adventures in Human Anatomy, debuts in September 2025.  Mary has written for National Geographic, Wired, and The New York Times Magazine, among others, and her TED talk made the TED 20 Most Watched list.  She has been a guest editor for Best American Science and Nature Writing, a finalist for the Royal Society's Winton Prize, and a winner of the American Engineering Societies' journalism award, in a category for which, let's be honest, she was the sole entrant. 6 - 9pm: MacLaren Community Stargazing Night

A special event of the 2025 Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival

Join Thomas MacLaren School for a night of Stargazing in collaboration with Cool Science, the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, and The National Space Science and Technology Institute.  Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and a flashlight. 

This is a Free event and everyone is welcome!  Food trucks will be on site for dining purchases.  

Park in the south parking lot and begin your evening at the welcome table on the Plaza.  Food trucks and NSSTI's Mobile Earth + Space Observatory (MESO) will be available in the north parking lot.  You are welcome to bring your own telescope if desired. Campus will be dark, so  consider bringing a lashlight or headlamp.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

7:30 - 9:30pm: Science Riot - real scientists being real funny

A special event of the 2025 Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival

Science Riot is an organization promoting public enthusiasm for science. Since 2016, we have been taking scientists and teaching them how to do public outreach through standup-style comedy about their field of expertise. Sound awkward? It is. In the best, most hilarious way possible. Think of it like a TED talk...but really funny.
