The Annual Craftsmen’s Fair began in 1933 and runs for nine days each year, featuring the juried work of hundreds of members with sales booths, interactive demonstrations, and curated exhibitions attracting over 20,000 visitors annually. This video from 2021 captures the essence of the Fair, and provides a sense of the wide range of creative experiences you can expect to find each year.
Daily Demonstrations
Enjoy different demonstrations daily by Craft Guilds and Juried Members. Many of these demonstrations include the opportunity to try the technique yourself, so be sure to ask when you visit the tents. Our daily demonstrations are generously sponsored by Dorr Mill Store, NBT Bank and Baker Newman Noyes.
Weaving with the NH Weavers Guild: Tent D
Members will demonstrate handwearing on several kinds of large and small looms, including rigid heddle, inkle, tapestry, cand, and 4- or 8-shaft floor looms. You can also investigate samples of weaving and patterns.
Clay Slip Carving (Sgraffito) with Ursula Fries-Herfort: Tent H
Sgraffito is a slip carving technique in which the clay body is covered with a thick coating of slip and then carved, leaving a raised design. Watch Ursula demonstrate this interesting technique and perhaps give it a try yourself. Today only, you can purchase her work in The Shop at the Fair.
Quilting with Soo-Nipi Quilters Guild: Tent R
Enjoy examples of quilts made by members of this Newport, NH based guild and watch as they demonstrate binding and piecing techniques.
Music at The Fair
The League is excited to offer live music every day of the 2025 Fair. These talented local musicians will be playing daily from 10am-4pm at the Art, Craft & Design tent, adjacent to the food vendor area.
10am-1pm: Arthur Terembula
